Distinctive to the field of structural integration, Structural Medicine directly addresses specific pathologies, painful complaints, and movement dysfunctions. It bridges well-established and proven evaluation tools found in mainstream medicine (strength, range-of-motion, postural assessment) with the latest scientific developments in alternative treatment therapies (manual therapy, myofascial release, movement education, neuromuscular re-education, energetics, and dialogue).

Every Structural Medicine session is tailored specifically and meaningfully to the client to meet them right where they are.

MYOFASCIAL LENGTH TESTING

Unique to Structural Medicine is a sophisticated diagnostic procedure, myofascial length testing (MFLT). MFLT is essential for treatment of complex inter-related traumas and structural imbalances. The objective findings empower the practitioner to formulate a customized plan for treatment of an individuals needs; provides a language to communicate intelligently and objectively with other medical professionals; provides physical measurements, pre and post treatment, to monitor or modify the treatment program, as well as enhance progress. Overall, MFLT is a powerful tool that elevates the practice of Structural Medicine substantially and drastically improves the outcomes for clients.

EXTENSIVE EVALUATION

Structural Medicine involves extensive evaluation of postural alignment and movement, in order to balance the myofascial tone, length, and strength across all the major joints of the body. Through myofascial reorganization, the Structural Medicine process moves the body closer to a more efficient organization and function in gravity.

BODY AWARENESS AND PAIN MANAGEMENT: AN INTEGRATED PROCESS

Through verbal dialogue and movement re-education, Structural Medicine helps uncover attitudes and unconscious beliefs that contribute to or limit postural integrity and efficient movement dynamics. By means of the Structural Medicine integrative process, a new-found empowered awareness develops to re-align posture, movement patterns, and a sense of self more aligned to the individuals current needs.

I grew up in the Seattle area of the Pacific Northwest. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, I was a child who thrived on adventures of all kinds: mountaineering, sailing, hiking, and many different sports. In high school, I practiced Western sword-based martial arts, self-defense, and dance. When I was growing up, my mother was a Physical Therapist and Hellerwork Structural Integrator, which made me intimately familiar with structural manual therapy and its benefits.

My professional movement career began in college with performative mythology in an aerial-based circus arts company and dancing with the Seattle Opera. After college, I toured the world with Pilobolus Dance Theater performing in 27 countries over 4 years to millions of people.

During all of these physically demanding practices I have had to continually refine and adapt my self-care. I have learned how much effort it takes to stay strong, flexible and resilient. Most importantly however was learning just how incredibly far I could push my body and mind. Through it all I was thrilled to experience how our emotions and sense of being are built into our bodies, and how this interplays with our cognitive thinking.

After my dance career, I went back to school for Structural Medicine. I studied at the Institute of Structural Medicine, based in Seattle, WA and Twisp, WA for 4 years. Throughout that time, I worked hands-on with individuals as part of my studies. I officially kicked off my business, Lifelines Structural Medicine, in the Fall of 2019, and have been seeing clients in the greater Seattle region ever since. The bodywork I received in my youth and the movement experiences in my dance career gave me a unique perspective to develop my skill as a touch-based therapist.

I have the most perfect little girl and infant son and I am discovering just how much my heart can expand as I watch them grow with fascination and wonder! I have the most caring wife who is also my best friend, and a loyal dog-companion who I love spending time with. And for the last two years, I have found a passion for gardening at my home in the Issaquah Alps.
